Inspiring young champions to

Grow, Learn and Shine

Sport at Amanzimtoti Primary School is part of the holistic development programme we so passionately believe in and is key to a balanced curriculum, a healthy lifestyle and an enhanced school experience.

For this reason, our sport and co-curricular offering is characterised by the following elements:

PARTICIPATION

Maximum and mass participation is encouraged from Grade 1 to Grade 7, and every child has the opportunity to participate in the activity of their choice.

EXPOSURE

The sport, cultural and artistic activities we offer are carefully selected to offer learners exposure to both group and individual developmental opportunities.

DEVELOPMENT

In the Foundation Phase, we emphasise participation and we encourage learners to engage in as many activities as possible.  Here, we aim to develop the necessary skills and competencies that would make them not only life-long participants, but also equipped and ready for formal participation and competition in the Intermediate and Senior Phase.

From Grade 4 to Grade 7, we participate formally in various Inter-School fixtures, leagues and tournaments to offer as many opportunities as possible to as many learners as possible.

Healthy competition and participation are fostered through the Inter-House system, where the three houses — Athlone, Clarendon, and Duncan compete in Swimming, Cross-Country, Athletics, and Winter Sports.

Academic points are earned by learners through the merit system each week.

Our sports department is strengthened through the appointment of qualified outside coaches who make it possible to engage as many learners as possible, but also assist our formal teams to excel in their different competitions.
